Boxer is from Lisa Larson's "Lillkennel" series, launched in the 1970s at Gustavsberg. Larson excelled at capturing the character of animals rather than their realistic appearance, giving these small dogs a rounded, tranquil, and slightly humorous presence. The Boxer's composed lines and slightly forward-leaning posture are also preserved in this style.
Like the "Ungar" series, "Lillkennel" was completed during Larson's golden age at Gustavsberg. During that time, she had the freedom to create small ceramic figures, focusing on the purest forms and essences of animals. The Boxer's presence, therefore, appears particularly distinctive— understated, standing steadily, as if waiting for a familiar person.
When placed next to Malin, the scene suddenly becomes very lifelike: like a child exploring the world in front, and it quietly stands by, watching over them—that feeling of "I'm here, you can relax" is the most charming aspect of Larson's animals.
