The texture of light on glass, like a flower slowly emerging.
This design was created by Heikki Orvola in the 1970s and originally produced by Nuutajärvi, an old Finnish glass factory founded in 1793. The Miranda lacks ornate cuts, instead, it possesses a quality that reveals different expressions as light shifts throughout the day—be it at the breakfast table, in the afternoon sun, or by the window in the evening. It is an object awakened by everyday light.
The cup body is covered with layers of semicircular textures, like petals, or the tiny ripples on water stirred by the wind. In natural light, these textures slowly illuminate, their edges softening, and when their reflections fall on the tabletop, they form another quiet pattern.
