Taika means "magic" in Finnish. This series was created by designer Anja Jaatinen‑Winquist in collaboration with decorator Inkeri Seppälä. Winquist was responsible for the tableware's form, while Seppälä created the blue, white, and brown stripe and berry patterns in 1975, reflecting the natural and rustic aesthetic of 1970s Finnish design.

Taika's design is understated yet enduring, with intertwining stripe and berry elements, some hand-painted and some printed, creating a warm everyday atmosphere. However, in the late 1970s, as Arabia began to promote more colorful and trendy series (such as Paratiisi), Taika's style seemed too subtle and failed to continuously attract the mass market. Additionally, Arabia often tested the market with short-term series at the time. Therefore, it was only produced for a short period between 1976–1979 before being discontinued. Due to this brief production period, Taika is now a rare item in the collector's market.
