#015|kaffeburken · Sweden's Panic Buying Frenzy

These past few days, Sweden has gone a little crazy over a co-branded coffee tin from Zoégas × Rörstrand.

This jubileumsburk is a collaboration Zoégas did for its 140th anniversary, bringing the most familiar coffee flavor in Swedes' lives together with the blue flowers of Mon Amie into everyday life.

Mon Amie is a blue floral design created by Marianne Westman in 1952, a pattern that has been used and remembered in Swedes' lives for over seventy years. When two classics deeply rooted in Swedish daily life meet, they naturally become the most talked-about item of late.

Interestingly, this coffee tin, which was originally just a free gift, sparked a nationwide rush to buy due to its limited availability and cultural sentiment. Queues formed outside supermarkets, and staff were constantly asked when it would be restocked.

Seeing news reports of queues,搶购 (frantic buying), and crazy inquiries for a coffee tin, I honestly found it a little hard to believe. Such a scene is difficult to reconcile with the "calm and composed" Swede I have in my mind. To some extent, this phenomenon also demonstrates the depth and emotional weight of Mon Amie in Swedish culture.

In fact, the value of an object is often not in how many people pursue it, but in whether it can bring a little softness and warmth to everyday life.
